Dory Gallery In-House Flyer/Poster
The Dory Gallery in Llangollen, North Wales (Oriel Dory in Welsh) is home to nearly 500 square metres of contemporary art across 8 gallery spaces, all housed in the old schoolhouse, with it’s superb decorative brickwork.
Because visitors approach the gallery from where the parked cars can be seen in the photo, the latticework of coloured bricks can be seen clearly on the side of the tower above the door. I decided to use this pattern as the inspiration for the poster.
The diamond of photos inset on the front echo the pattern of the yellow bricks.
On the back, the yellow diamond is home to sections of the quilt room, whilst close-up textures from one of the gallery’s larger paintings pick out the diagonals of dark blue grey bricks, with the rest of the imagery being gallery interiors.
